More Questions Than Answers

Today Sajid Javid and others met with some very senior Police Officers. They had their meeting, as though that might solve the problem, and the NPCC types were told to go away and come back at the end of the week with a Business Plan for nore resources.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have a degree, but I don’t see how that will help in the short term. It’s a good start for slowing down the death of the Police Service, but new recruits will take months, if not years, to get trained and come up to speed.

Or maybe we should pay our already burnt out officers to work even longer, or more, shifts, and hope overtime will cure the problem.

Don’t get me wrong, we need the 21,000 officers to be replaced. We need the funding to pay them. We need an attractive package to encourage the right people to apply to join, but none of these is an instant fix. It will take time. The reason we are in the position we are (i.e. the inability to get on top of the Knife rime Crisis) is solely due to the savage cuts initiated by Theresa May as Home Secretary.

In an earlier post I highlighted how many of the officers we have lost are the more experienced ones. The strategy of getting rid of experienced officers and replacing them with cheaper raw recruits was never going to end well, but did anybody listen? Certainly not the government or National Police Chiefs Council.

More Questions Than Answers

in tandem the Silver Blue Think Tank have been stretching their brains and have come up with a few questions of our own. Modern-day Policing methods should surely have the answers

It didn’t take very long to come up with the answers to the questions above

If it was ever the right time to acknowledge that what the Police (and Public) need are experienced officers with the powers and political approval to just get on with the job in hand, then it is now. We do not need Graduate Entry recruits with a First in Classical Greek, we need officers, with or without a degree, who are willing and able to get their hands dirty and get a grip of the problems facing this country.

We are perfectly well aware that the current crisis in Policing is a direct result of Theresa May’s policies, and that is resulting in our children being butchered and slaughtered on our streets. I don’t care one iota what the ethnicity of the victims is, the killing simply has to stop, and anybody who stands in the way of the Police doing their job is simply part of the problem.
