Dyfed Powys Police Sergeant runs the London Marathon to support Brecon MRT | Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

Police Sergeant Darren Brown from Welshpool in the North of Powys has set himself the challenge to run the London Marathon on April 13th 2014. In doing so he will also be supporting the work of Brecon Mountain Rescue Team by asking people to sponsor him to complete the challenge.

In his role as a police search advisor (PoLSA) he has worked with Brecon Mountain Rescue Team on many searches throughout Mid Wales, including the search for April Jones in Machynlleth.

When asked about why he chose Brecon MRT and two other charities Daren said

“Over recent years we as a Police service regularly have to rely on the Wales Air Ambulance and in Montgomeryshire we use MEDS (Montgomeryshire Emergency Doctors) to assist with serious medical issues in our area through accidents and other incidents before a patient goes to Hospital. I also utilise Mountain Rescue Teams predominantly Brecon MRT on occasions in my role as a PolSA (Police Search Advisor) to assist with locating lost, injured or ill persons e.g. suicidal persons, persons with dementia and on occasions to assist with persons missing as a result of crime.”
